Who We Are |
We are a team of educated YOUTH and professionals working in different industries come together with a strong desire to make a change by providing financial help to underprivileged students; specifically for those seeking higher education. With so many government funds, private funds and even individuals providing funds for students across India for schooling, we moved a step ahead to differentiate making a person literate and educated. Currently, the Indian literacy rate shows about a 9% increase from the previous year from 65.38% to 74.04% as of 2011. The question is; does this make a difference to the Indian economy? The answer is YES and NO. By yes, it means that almost 74% of the Indian population is literate; they know to read and write. Is that enough? Are they really educated? Can they make a difference to their family? Can they make a difference to the next generation? Are they even eligible for a government job that pays well? The answer is definitely NO. It is an undeniable fact that currently a college education or a typical higher education has taken over what a high school education offered in the past. A high school education can only provide a person a foundation; only a higher education has the capacity to provide an individual with a good job and a comfortable life. Literacy, though, plays a major role and helps an individual to improve his lifestyle to a certain extend in comparison to an illiterate, it does not provide much of economic or financial growth to the individual or his family and overall the country. So, most of the money that is invested in providing schooling for children who drop out due to family circumstances or any other typical reason is nothing but a loss to the country. In fact, it is does not even help people who complete schooling and not pursue higher education simply because they CANNOT AFFORD IT. This is where ARAN Foundation steps in to make a difference and has successfully done this for FOUR years now. All this started because we simply believe that "AN INDIVIDUAL'S EDUCATION CAN CHANGE AN ENTIRE GENERATION" and that in turn will provide us, the YOUTH of this country a satisfaction of contributing to the CHANGE that our country needs the most. |
